SAN ANGELO, TX — A flash flood warning remains in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday for southeastern Tom Green and southeastern Irion counties, according to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall across the warned areas, with between 2 and 4 inches of rain already fallen. Flooding has been reported at several low water crossings, including County Road 113, Dove Creek, Mineral Wells Crossing on the South Concho River, Door Key Crossing, and Pecan Creek.
Authorities are asking residents to remain alert even in areas not currently experiencing rainfall, as riverbanks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
"Stay away or be swept away," the alert stated.
According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, a slight risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms is in effect for parts of West Central Texas, including Tom Green County, beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing through early Wednesday morning (4 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
