SAN ANGELO, TX — A new Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for eastern Tom Green and Concho counties as a dangerous storm moves through the region, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning, issued at 5:43 p.m. Monday, remains in effect until 6:45 p.m. CDT. Radar indicated the storm was moving east at 25 mph across central and western Tom Green County, including San Angelo. Forecasters warned of potential injury to people and animals outdoors, as well as damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles.

“This severe thunderstorm will be near… Eastern San Angelo, Wall, and Goodfellow Air Force Base around 5:45 PM CDT,” the alert stated. "Veribest around 550 PM CDT. Vancourt around 600 PM CDT. Mereta around 605 PM CDT. Eola around 610 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Vick, The Intersection Of Us-83 And Ranch Road 765, The Intersection Of Us- 83 And Ranch Road 1929, Live Oak, Us-83 Near The Concho- Runnels County Line, Harriet, and The Intersection Of Ranch Road 380 And Ranch Road 381."
A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the region until 10 p.m.
The severe weather risk is most concentrated along and south of the I-20 to I-10 corridor, which includes San Angelo, Brady, Ballinger, Junction, and other surrounding communities. Storm activity is expected to overspread eastern and southern portions of the region by early tonight.
In addition to severe weather, forecasters noted a slight risk (15–40 percent chance) of excessive rainfall leading to flash flooding. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms could produce heavy downpours, creating hazardous driving conditions.

Cooler conditions are expected to follow as a cold front moves through the region on Tuesday, bringing continued chances of rain and thunderstorms through midweek. Highs are expected to stay in the low to mid-80s for much of the week in San Angelo, according to the extended forecast.
