Storms Possible Overnight in San Angelo Area

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service is warning residents in San Angelo and across West Central Texas to prepare for potentially severe thunderstorms late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

Storms are expected to develop after 11 p.m. and may become severe, with the highest local risk categorized as “Slight” (Level 2 of 5), according to the NWS.

In addition to the severe weather threat, heavy rainfall is possible overnight, especially in areas east of San Angelo. Forecasters say the region is at a “Slight Risk” for flash flooding. 

During the rain overnight, the Abilene Airport recorded 0.05 inches of rain, while the San Angelo Airport received 0.01 inches. Heavier rainfall occurred north and west of Abilene, and from Sterling and Irion Counties into western Sutton County, the NWS reported.
