Windy Wednesday Brings Cooler Temps

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning and Wind Advisory for all of West Central Texas due to strong winds and low humidity, creating critical fire weather conditions.

The Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday, with west-to-northwest winds reaching 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. Humidity levels between 5% and 15% increase the risk of wildfires spreading rapidly. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor burning and take precautions against fire hazards.

Additionally, a Wind Advisory is in effect through 7 p.m. Wednesday, warning of sustained winds between 25 to 35 mph with gusts around 50 mph. The NWS urges residents to secure loose objects and drive cautiously, especially if operating high-profile vehicles.

A cold front is expected to bring cooler temperatures in the 60s and 70s on Wednesday and Thursday, before warming back into the mid-80s by the weekend.
