Warm Temperatures Expected Before Fire Risk Increases

SAN ANGELO, TX – A warming trend will bring temperatures into the 80s across West Texas on Tuesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

A cold front is expected to arrive Friday, bringing slightly cooler temperatures heading into the weekend.

Alongside the warm conditions, critical fire weather is expected due to strong winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation. Fire danger will be highest from Tuesday through Saturday, with Wednesday and Friday posing the greatest risk. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph, and humidity levels are forecast to drop below 15%.

Officials urge residents to take precautions, including clearing brush from homes, avoiding outdoor burning, and ensuring that chains are not dragging from vehicles.
