Rainbow Trout Stocked in Concho River for Final Time This Season

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department stocked the Concho River with rainbow trout in downtown San Angelo on Friday, which it announced will be the final stocking of the 2024-25 season.

The section of the river is between Oakes and Irving streets.

The trout are stocked roughly between Thanksgiving and the first week of March each season as part of the Neighborhood Fishin’ program.

San Angelo’s downtown river is one of 18 sites in Texas that are a part of the program.

The TPWD will begin stocking channel catfish in the Concho River in mid-April.

Children 16 and under can fish for free, but adults must purchase a fishing license.
