SAN ANGELO, TX — A dense fog advisory is in effect for all of West Central Texas until 10 a.m. Wednesday, with visibility dropping to a quarter of a mile or less in some areas, the National Weather Service in San Angelo reported.
Use low-beam headlights, slow down, and allow for extra travel time due to hazardous conditions.
In addition to the fog, the region faces a risk of severe weather later in the day. A marginal risk for strong to severe thunderstorms is in place from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, with damaging winds over 60 mph and quarter-sized hail as the primary concerns. Initially, isolated storms are expected before merging into a larger system overnight.
Heavy rainfall is also forecasted to develop Wednesday evening, expanding in coverage and continuing into the night. The heaviest rainfall is expected in eastern and southeastern counties, where repeated storm activity could lead to localized flash flooding of roads, creeks, and low-lying areas. Avoid driving through flooded roads.
