SAN ANGELO, TX — Freezing rain and sleet are expected to persist in the Concho Valley, including San Angelo, through late Thursday morning and early afternoon as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Friday.
The National Weather Service reports light ice accumulations are likely, particularly on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses. By 7 p.m., precipitation could transition to snow, with up to 0.5 inches of snow possible if freezing temperatures persist. Most precipitation in the Concho Valley is expected to taper off by midnight, although a small band of snow could develop early Friday morning, adding another dusting to 0.5 inches of accumulation.
Today’s high temperature in San Angelo is forecast at 36°F, with a 90% chance of precipitation. Tonight, temperatures will drop to 27°F, with a 40% chance of continued precipitation.
Elsewhere in the region:
• Big Country (including Abilene): Snowfall is expected to continue, with accumulations ranging from 1 inch to a possible 3 inches. Precipitation should end by midnight.
• I-10 Corridor (including Junction, Ozona, Mason): Mostly cold rain with occasional sleet, transitioning to snow by 7 p.m., with light snow accumulations under 0.5 inches.
Friday’s forecast shows some relief, with partly sunny skies and a high near 42°F in San Angelo.
