SAN ANGELO, TX - West Central Texas could see snow later this week as a cold front moves into the region, bringing frigid temperatures and potential precipitation.
The National Weather Service in San Angelo estimates a 75% chance of snow from Wednesday through Friday, depending on how a weather system interacts with lingering cold air in the area.
Forecast models indicate two scenarios. The most likely outcome shows a storm system staying close to Texas, keeping cold air in place and improving the chances of snow. However, if the storm shifts southwestward toward California, warmer air would dominate, and any precipitation would likely fall as rain.
Ahead of the potential snowfall, dangerously cold temperatures will grip the region. Starting Monday evening, wind chills could drop into the low teens, with some areas potentially seeing wind chills below 15°F.
San Angelo is forecasted to experience morning lows in the 20s throughout the week, with high temperatures struggling to exceed the low 40s. Wind gusts of up to 35 mph are expected as a cold front sweeps through the area today.
The probability of precipitation increases midweek, with a 55% chance of measurable snow for areas like San Angelo and Ballinger by Wednesday or Thursday.
