SAN ANGELO, TX - San Angelo and the surrounding West Central Texas region will see a sharp drop in temperatures early next week as a strong cold front moves in, bringing dangerously cold conditions and wind chills in the teens.
Saturday’s forecast calls for highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s with south winds of 10-15 mph, gusting up to 30 mph. Patchy fog and low clouds may linger through the morning hours, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.
The weather will drastically shift by Sunday evening, with the arrival of the cold front. High temperatures next week are expected to struggle to climb above the low 40s, with lows plunging into the upper teens to lower 20s. Wind chills may dip below 15 degrees in many locations, creating hazardous outdoor conditions.
Residents are urged to take precautions to protect the “4 P’s” — pets, people, pipes, and plants. Limiting outdoor exposure, dressing in warm layers, and preparing for possible impacts to outdoor plumbing are highly recommended. Sensitive plants should also be protected or brought indoors.
The cold snap is expected to persist throughout the workweek, with highs remaining chilly and lows near freezing or below. Communities are advised to check on elderly neighbors and ensure pets are sheltered during this extended period of cold weather.
