SAN ANGELO, TX - The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Red Flag Warning for Monday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., citing critical fire weather conditions due to gusty winds, low humidity, and warm temperatures.
Afternoon highs are expected to reach the upper 70s to mid-80s, with west winds of 15-25 mph and gusts up to 35 mph.
The affected areas include the Concho Valley, Heartland, Northern Edwards Plateau, Northwest Hill Country, and Western Big Country. Humidity levels are forecasted to drop to 10-15%, increasing fire risks. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, refrain from driving on dry grass, and ensure no chains are dragging from vehicles to prevent sparks.
Conditions will cool slightly on New Year’s Eve, with afternoon highs ranging from the mid-50s to mid-60s under mostly sunny skies. Winds from the north to northeast are expected at 6-12 mph. By midnight, temperatures will dip into the upper 30s to lower 40s with light northeast winds at 4-7 mph and clear skies.
On New Year’s Day, the region will experience dry, sunny weather with morning lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s and afternoon highs in the low to upper 50s. Winds will shift from the northeast to the east at 5-10 mph.
