Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Parts of West Central Texas

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of west central Texas, including south central Coke County, northeastern Tom Green County, and northeastern Irion County. The warning remains in effect until 5:30 p.m. CST.

At 4:52 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was detected near San Angelo State Park, moving northeast at 25 mph. The storm poses a hazard of 60 mph wind gusts and hail up to half-dollar size, according to radar reports. Potential impacts include damage to vehicles, roofs, siding, and trees.

Areas at risk include Carlsbad, San Angelo State Park, O.C. Fisher Reservoir, and Grape Creek. Residents in the affected regions are advised to move to interior rooms on the lowest floor of a building for protection.

This alert affects Coke, Irion, and Tom Green counties in west central Texas.
