SAN ANGELO, TX – Northern San Angelo and parts of Tom Green County are under severe weather conditions, prompting multiple warnings and highway closures.
The latest update from the National Weather Service warns of quarter-size to half-dollar-size hail and winds up to 60 mph, with the storm expected to impact areas just north of the city limits until 10 p.m. CDT.
The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office reported rising waters blocking major highways, including Route 2288 and U.S. Highway 87 north from Grape Creek. Officials caution that smaller vehicles may be unable to navigate these flooded roads and urge drivers to “turn around, don’t drown.”
Flash flood warnings remain in effect across parts of the county, with additional rainfall worsening conditions. Motorists are advised to avoid northern highways and take shelter as high winds, hail, and flash flooding pose significant threats to safety.
