Wildfire Reported Near Woodson; High Winds Elevate Spread Risk

WOODSON, TX — A wildfire was reported southwest of Woodson near the Throckmorton/Shackelford county line around 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Abilene/San Angelo.

The fire is burning between U.S. Highway 183 and U.S. Highway 283.

Texas Forest Service crews are en route to the area. Officials urge residents to exercise caution as dry vegetation and strong southerly winds are increasing the fire’s potential to spread.

No further details are available at this time.

We reported this morning that we are under a wind advisory until 10 p.m. tonight.
