SAN ANGELO, TX - The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a wind advisory across portions of the Big Country, Concho Valley, and Northern Edwards Plateau, effective from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today.
Strong southerly winds are expected to reach 20 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, potentially impacting high-profile vehicles and creating hazardous conditions for outdoor objects.
Looking ahead, a cold front will bring scattered thunderstorms and rain chances to the region starting Wednesday afternoon. Some storms may become severe, particularly in the eastern half of West Central Texas, with damaging winds of up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail as the primary threats.
Temperatures will cool down by mid-week, with highs in the 70s by Thursday, following unseasonably warm and windy conditions today. Forecast highs for Tuesday include San Angelo at 85°F and Abilene at 86°F, about 10-15 degrees above normal.
For Halloween night, dry and pleasant conditions are anticipated. Temperatures in San Angelo will drop from the mid-70s around 6 p.m. to the mid-60s by 10 p.m. Winds will be light, coming from the northeast at 5-10 mph, under a waning crescent moon.
Residents are advised to secure loose items outdoors and drive cautiously in high-profile vehicles due to the wind advisory.
