SAN ANGELO, TX — An elevated fire threat is in effect across West Central Texas on Monday as unseasonably warm temperatures and gusty winds increase the fire danger, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.
Highs are expected to range from 84 to 91 degrees, with southerly winds of 15 to 25 mph, and gusts reaching 30 to 35 mph in the Big Country and Concho Valley.
The region will experience mostly sunny skies throughout the day, with temperatures running 10-15 degrees above average for this time of year. A cold front, however, is forecast to move through the area later in the week, potentially bringing increased rain chances and cooler conditions by Thursday.
San Angelo’s detailed forecast shows that temperatures will remain in the high 80s through Wednesday, with continued breezy conditions. A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected Wednesday night as temperatures drop to the mid-50s, offering some relief from the ongoing dry spell.
On Halloween Thursday, sunny skies are expected with a high near 77 and light north-northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph. Halloween night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 57 and a 20% chance of showers after 1 a.m., as winds shift to the east at around 5 mph.
