SAN ANGELO, TX — West Central Texas is facing potentially record-breaking high temperatures today, with afternoon highs expected to reach 15 degrees above normal, according to the National Weather Service.
San Angelo is forecasted to hit 92°F, which could tie the record high set in 1989. Abilene may also see record-breaking heat, with temperatures predicted to climb to 92°F, surpassing its previous high of 90°F for this date, also set in 1989.

The heatwave is expected to persist through Friday, with temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s across the region. Cooler conditions are forecast for the weekend, as temperatures are projected to dip into the low to mid-80s. Winds will remain light, blowing from the southwest to southeast at 5 to 15 mph.

For the rest of the week, San Angelo’s highs are expected to be near 92°F today, 89°F on Thursday, and 87°F on Friday. Overnight lows will remain mild, ranging from 57°F to 61°F.
The NWS predicts the unseasonably warm weather to cool slightly after Friday, with highs returning to the mid-80s by the weekend.
