SAN ANGELO, TX - Just this afternoon, San Angelo broke a temperature record for Aug. 21, reaching 108°F by 12:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
This surpasses the previous record high of 107°F set just last year.
The record-breaking temperature is part of an ongoing heat wave that has gripped West Texas, pushing temperatures dangerously close to all-time highs. The record high for the month of August in San Angelo remains 111°F, also set last year.
An Excessive Heat Warning is currently in effect for much of West Texas, including San Angelo, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Forecasts predict temperatures ranging between 105°F and 111°F, with the risk of heat-related illnesses elevated throughout the region.
