SAN ANGELO – A weak cold front passing through West Texas Sunday morning will bring down temperatures and drop some scattered light to moderate rain showers into Monday.
Government Meteorologists say that mild cold front will drop temps a few degrees as the wind shifts to the north. Thunderstorms are expected to develop to the northwest and move southeast into the Concho Valley and Big Country Sunday afternoon. The area most likely to see measurable rainfall is west of a line from Haskell to Abilene to Brownwood and includes the city of San Angelo.
Rain totals will be below half an inch but the stronger storms will produce street flooding and inundate low-lying areas. No severe weather is expected and no watches, warnings or advisories are in effect at this time.
Storms will diminish overnight with showers lingering over the area west of a Sweetwater to Sonora line.
There is a 50% chance of rain again on Monday mainly for the southeast Concho Valley from Menard to Junction to Kerrville.
Tuesday will see a warming trend as the high pressure dome strengthens across the region. The Labor Day weekend at this point appears to be hot and dry. Early September will also see excessive heat and weather warnings could return to the Concho Valley.
