Excessive Heat Warning in Effect Monday & Possibly for the Entire Week

SAN ANGELO – National Weather Service meteorologists have issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Monday afternoon which is the coolest day of the work week.  The Heat Warning will likely be extended through at least Friday.

The NWS office in San Angelo had already issued a Heat Advisory for Monday with afternoon high temperatures expected to top out at 104 degrees.  According to the NWS, a Heat Advisory and an Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect today from noon to 8 p.m. Breezy conditions this afternoon will add to elevated wildfire conditions across parts of the region today.

The excessive heat continues to dry out grass and other rangeland fuels increasing the threat of wildfire danger throughout the week.

Afternoon high temperatures across west Texas will remain in the 105 to 107 degree range through Sunday.

There is no rain in the forecast.  The unicorns and pixie dust model shows a very slight chance of showers in the northern Big Country with cooler temperatures next week.  Most models, however, do not.
