NWS: Some Afternoon Thunderstorms Possible July 4th

SAN ANGELO – While most of West Texas will remain hot and dry this Independence Day, there is a slight chance of thunderstorms forming in the eastern counties of the Concho Valley.

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon east of a Coleman to Sonora line.  The main threats will be lightning and gusty winds.

For the rest of the Concho Valley, expect sunny skies and afternoon high temperatures around 98 degrees with heat index values around 101.

Afternoon temperatures should drop to the upper 80s by sunset just in time for the big Fireworks show at Lake Nasworthy.

Expect a gradual warming trend throughout the work week with temps reaching into triple digits by Thursday.
