NWS Issues Severe Thunderstorm Watch Including San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for a large portion of West Texas including the city of San Angelo effective until 11 p.m. Thursday. 

The watch covers a vast area of West Texas stretching from the Big Bend to the Oklahoma border at Wichita Falls. 

Severe thunderstorms will be possible mainly between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. northwest of San Angelo. 

The main threats will be very large hail, damaging winds and frequent lightning.  A tornado is possible north and west of the Abilene area. 

There is a 40 percent chance of severe thunderstorms tonight and a 60 percent chance Friday night.
