NWS: Winter Storm Warning Through Midnight

SAN ANGELO, TX – Rain and thunderstorms will continue across West Central Texas through the morning hours then gradually turn to snow in the afternoon New Year's Eve creating hazardous driving conditions across the region.

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect until midnight tonight.

Temperatures are at or below the freezing mark and will continue to fall throughout the day.  Gusty north winds will keep wind chill values between 18 and 23 degrees which will cause bridges and overpasses to freeze over.  Icy roadways will become more widespread this afternoon.

There is a 100 percent chance of rain and freezing rain Thursday morning and a 100 percent chance of snow Thursday afternoon and evening.  The forecast calls for four to seven inches of snow Thursday.

The NWS is urging residents to stay home as driving conditions will be difficult or impossible.  If you must drive, leave early and slow down.
