Advisory: Dangerous Heat Forecast for the Next Seven Days

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Heat Advisory issued for the Concho Valley and Big Country has been extended through Saturday night as triple digit temps are forecast for the next seven days.

The heat advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. Thursday through 8 p.m. Saturday as afternoon and early evening Heat Index values of 105 to 109 degrees  are expected in the Big Country and Concho Valley.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur. 

A Heat Advisory means that hot weather conditions are occurring or expected. This will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible.

Never, ever, leave children or pets alone in enclosed vehicles, not even for a few minutes.

The forecast calls for afternoon temperatures to reach 108 degrees Monday and Tuesday with no rain in the forecast.

The heat advisory may be extended and an excessive heat warning could be issued.
