NWS: Brace for Severe Weather Tonight Including Deadly Lightning

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo is advising residents to prepare for severe weather tonight.

According to the NWS, thunderstorms are possible this afternoon into tonight. Some of these storms may become strong to severe. Very large hail could occur west of a Rotan to Ozona line. Otherwise, the main hazards will be large hail, damaging winds, deadly lightning, and a possible tornado.

There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind 10 to 15 mph.

Additional thunderstorms are expected Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. Some of these storms may become strong to severe. The main hazards will be damaging winds, large hail, and deadly lightning. Also, heavy rainfall resulting in localized flooding may be possibly across some areas.

The NWS advises to relay any information about observed weather to the NWS while following all local, state and CDC guidelines.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for west central Texas including Tom Green County and the entire Concho Valley until 10 p.m. Wednesday night.
