NWS: Very Serious Winter Storm Brewing Overnight in the Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO, TX – Tuesday night's winter storm might be the worst of this winter as the National Weather Service office in San Angelo is warning of significant freezing precipitation and hazardous road conditions as temperatures stay below freezing until Thursday afternoon. 

According to the NWS, rain will fall before midnight, then rain, freezing rain, and sleet between midnight and 3 a.m., then freezing rain and sleet after 3 a.m. Low around 26. Wind chill values between 16 and 21. North northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. Total nighttime sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

The treacherous conditions continue through Wednesday as snow is likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Wind chill values between 13 and 23. North northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Area schools and businesses are delaying opening or are closed on Wednesday.
