SAN ANGELO, TX – Snow has fallen from Sterling City and across the Abilene area overnight creating hazardous driving conditions.
The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a winter weather advisory for most of the Big Country counties until 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
Social media posts show light snow accumulations in the area.
Snow is occurring with total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches possible. The following counties are being impacted: Haskell, Throckmorton, Jones, Shackelford, Taylor, and Callahan counties. Interstate 20 and state highways are being impacted. Plan on slippery road conditions.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
Across the rest of the Concho Valley, it's too warm for icy precipitation. Expect high temperatures in the mid 50s in the San Angelo area and surrounding counties with winds shifting to the southwest and gusting to 25 mph.
For tonight skies will be mostly clear, with a low around 35. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
It'll be warmer on Sunday with temperatures reaching the upper 60s.
