Strong Cold Front Bringing Thunderstorms and Feezing Temperatures to the Concho Valley

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A strong cold front is forecast to blow through the Concho Valley tonight bringing thunderstorms and much colder temperatures. 

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect West Central Texas mainly late this afternoon and into tonight.

The main hazards with these storms will be small hail, gusty winds, and dangerous cloud to ground lightning.

Localized areas in the Big Country may also see heavy rainfall as well.

Thursday through Tuesday Showers and thunderstorms will continue to impact the region on Thursday. The main hazard will be cloud to ground lightning.

There is a 30% chance of rain today increasing to 60% tonight with thunderstorms likely.  New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday's forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms. Temperature falling to around 44 by 5pm. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north 10 to 15 mph in the morning.

Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

There is a 30% chance of rain Thursday night with temperatures falling into the mid 30s.  Rural areas in the Concho Valley can expect a light freeze. 

By Friday, temperatures will rebound into the mid 50s and skies will be clear.
