Bitterly Cold Temperatures in Store for West Texas

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Some of the coldest weather of the season is on its way to the Concho Valley and West Central Texas.

The National Weather Service Office in San Angelo says temperatures in the teens will hit Sunday night and temperatures could remain below freezing for days.

An arctic air mass will settle across West Central Texas on Sunday and remain across the area through early next week.

Near Record- Cold temperatures are possible for Monday and Tuesday, with overnight low temperatures falling into the teens and 20s.

Gusty north winds will make it feel even colder as wind chill readings plunge to near zero at times Monday morning.

Care will need to be taken to protect your plants, pipes, and pets. Early season gardens and cold sensitive vegetation may need to be covered or brought inside.

A prolonged period of well below freezing temperatures may harm outdoor pipes.

Protect any exposed water pipes and ensure your heating system is in good working order.

Residents of West Central Texas are encouraged to keep an eye on the latest forecasts as we update the expected temperatures through the weekend.

This is a developing situation.
