Troubled Woman Throws Helpless Puppy at Cops During Altercation

 

TULSA, OK –– An Oklahoma police officer got more than he bargained after responding to an animal abuse call on New Year's Eve.

According to the Tulsa Police Department, on the last day of the year witnesses reported observing a woman kicking and dragging a small puppy. When they attempted to intervene, the woman threatened them. She was later identified as Sarah Powell.

When the officers arrived at the scene, Powell became argumentative and unexpectedly tossed the puppy at one of the officers and attempted to run.

The officer caught the puppy and Powell was subsequently arrested.

The puppy was treated for minor injuries like scrapes and cuts on his feet and stomach.

Powell was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

  • Cruelty to Animals AFCF (after former conviction of a felony)
  • Obstruction/Interfere with an Officer
  • Threatening a Violent Act
