First, full disclosure: I do all the media for the Brad Goodwin campaign. Since the other campaign's ad guy wrote a letter, I suppose I should write one too.
But, obviously, we are biased to begin with. Secondly, what do we know about the District Courts? So, I don’t believe my opinion is what you should base your decision on.
However, it is my job to recognize that this election may be tricky for you, the voters. With all the charts, and graphs, and differing points of view. What does the court do? What experience is important? Who has what?
So, I’ll just offer this. It would be ideal if the sitting Judges could tell us who to vote for, but they can’t, and that is as it should be. That being the case, who is in a position to give us informed, but impartial advice?
Well, there are people who fit that bill. For example, in 2015, three of our District Court Bailiffs, including one specifically assigned to the 391st District Court, retired: Julian Martinez, Phil Race, and Alvin Hale. All have extensive law enforcement experience, and all have served right here in our district courts for many years.
They have watched for countless hours the workings of the court. They have seen judges come and go. They no doubt have observed what qualities make a good judge. They know what bogs the court down, and what keeps things moving. And they have also seen both the candidates at work in court.
All three of these bailiffs have chosen to go on the record in support of Brad Goodwin. They have no reason or special interest in this, save for a desire to see the court and community they dedicated their lives to protecting left in good hands.
So, while I wouldn’t expect you to take my word for it, there are others we should hear. We have the insight of our San Angelo Police Officers PAC, District Attorney George McCrea, several former DA’s and ADA’s, and some retired judges. We have officers of the court and hundreds of people from all walks of life who have joined the list of Brad Goodwin supporters.
And we have these three men, who know perhaps better than anyone, whom we really need on the bench of the 391st District Court.
I know I’m not an expert, but every expert I know says we should vote Brad Goodwin, and I believe them.

Thanks for being upfront and honest with your connection to the Goodwin campaign. Dusek's bunch could be a little more forthright in their communications.
My vote goes to Goodwin, the clear choice.
