SAN ANGELO, TX — Residents can win two tickets to the Aug. 24 Cowboys vs. Chargers game by donating blood between August 12 and 16 at a mobile blood drive or donation center, according to Vitalant.
The tickets were donated by Chuck Romo, and donors will also be entered in a drawing for a $10,000 prepaid gift card, open to those who donate with Vitalant between July 28 and August 29.
The nation’s blood supply is currently strained, prompting an urgent call for eligible individuals to donate blood or platelets. The most needed products are platelets, O-positive blood, and O-negative blood. Recent reports indicate that the U.S. blood supply is critically low and trending downward.
Disruptions in blood collections, including those caused by Tropical Storm Debby in the Southeast, have exacerbated the challenges. These disruptions, combined with an already limited supply, have led to urgent calls for donations.
Blood has a limited shelf life and must be continually replenished to meet patient needs. The current shortage poses a risk to patient care nationwide, as hospitals rely on these donations to provide essential medical services.
