City of Odessa Officially Rescinds Local Mask Mandate

ODESSA, TX -- As Texas officially begins the era of no masks, local governments are beginning to rescind local orders.

During a meeting Tuesday night, the Odessa City Council voted six to one to rescind the Mayoral Declaration Regarding Face Coverings and the Mayoral Declaration of Continued Response.

The declaration had previously required residents to wear face coverings while visiting businesses and public facilities.

The only dissenting voice on the council was Councilmember Mari Willis, who said the decision was premature.

During the meeting, several city council members spent time thanking medical professionals for their hard work and citizen for doing their part to mitigate the spread of the virus.
