Water Tanks Are Filling But There's Much More to Do

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo residents banded together Saturday night and apparently headed Mayor Gunter's plea to not use water and allow storage tanks to refill.  

The city's public information officer released the following brief statement Sunday morning:

"Good progress was made overnight in filling our water tanks. It is vital that everyone keep conserving today so that we can continue moving forward and not backward. Please conserve and limit your usage as much as possible. Keep it up San Angelo!"

Officials are asking residents to not use water unless it is absolutely necessary.  The request of for citizens to use water only to boil for cooking and to flush toilets. 

The water system failed last Monday during the snowstorm with frozen pumps and burst water mains. 

City crews have been working around the clock to repair dozens of water main breaks caused by the frigid temperatures on the aging infrastructure.  

Officials have another news conference scheduled for Monday to provide another detailed update oh the water crisis.
