SAN ANGELO, TX -- Coronavirus continues to affect this community, and unfortunately, our friend and colleague Gregorio Gutierrez is in the midst of a battle against this virus.
Many know Mr. Gutierrez as the founder and CEO of Conexión San Angelo, the bilingual publication that has been a part of Spanish-speaking homes for years.
According to Mr. Gutierrez's family, he has been fighting the virus for 13 days. The virus caused pneumonia and is significantly affecting his lungs and ability to breathe.
Unfortunately, Mr. Gutierrez's condition does not appear to be improving and doctors are unable to estimate when he may be able to be reunited with his family.
According to his son, Ay Gutierrez, Mr. Gutierrez had a seizure that made his oxygen levels drop drastically about 40 percent. He is now in stable condition and has completed labs and x-rays to see what caused the seizure.
Conexión San Angelo is the sole source of income for Mr. Gutierrez and his wife, so a GoFundMe has been created to help cover his medical expenses.
His wife Araceli shared the following message online:
"When Gregorio returns home he will not be able to work as he will need to take time off to fully recover. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to ask the community for help."
"As Conexion is our sole source of income, I find that it has become necessary for us to reach out to the community in the hopes that we can raise funds to continue to support our family during this critical time."
"These funds will help with medical expenses and to help him recover. Anything helps and if you cannot donate that's ok too please share and continue to pray for him and his health. Thank you for all your support and continued prayers."
