ABILENE, TX – Walmart shoppers in south Abilene have been potentially exposed to coronavirus the Abilene Taylor County Public Health District announced.
According to KTXS, two people who tested positive for coronavirus may have exposed shoppers and staff.
The first is a shopper that tested positive for COVID-19. The patient told investigators that on April 2, 2020, she visited Walmart with one of her children from 9:00 a.m. –11:00 a.m. She then returned to the store from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. to purchase another item from the store.
The second is a staff member who also tested positive. The employee who worked at the store’s deli counter on April 3, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
The health district advises any shoppers who were in the store during those times to self-quarantine through April 17, 2020, to “ensure that if someone becomes infectious, they will not spread the disease to other people.”
The district has “determined these periods of time at the Southwest Drive Walmart are the only identified points of exposure and risk of infection to the general public.”
Abilene Taylor-County Public Health District urges all citizens to follow all social distancing guidelines and the following health measures:
- Practicing social distancing, and staying home as much as possible
- Washing or sanitizing hands often
- Covering sneezes and coughs
- Avoid touching your face
- Staying home if you are sick
- Routinely cleaning commonly touched surfaces
