Texas County Judge Orders Residents to Wear Masks

RAYMONDVILLE, TX – Willacy County Judge Aurelio Guerra issued an order on Tuesday afternoon that will penalize any resident who is caught without something covering their face while in a public building.

According to the order, all individuals over the age of 5 are required to wear some form of covering over their nose and mouth at all times when entering a building such as a grocery store, pharmacy or convenience store.

A person can be fined up to $1,000.

Judge Guerra also added to the order that no more than two adults per vehicle will be allowed in the county and fine up to $1,000 will also be issued if violated.

The new regulations go into effect April 8 at 5 a.m. and will last until the shelter-in-place order is lifted on April 30. As of Tuesday, Willacy County, which includes cities such as Raymondville and Port Mansfield, has five positive cases of COVID-19.
