First Trailer for Academy Award-Winning Director's Next Movie Drops

HOLLYWOOD— The first trailer for Oscar Award winning director Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 has been released online.

Mickey 17 is based on a novel titled “Mickey7”, and follows Mickey Barnes, an expendable worker, meaning his role is to go out on dangerous missions. When Mickey dies, a clone of him is regenerated with a lot of his memories intact.

Mickey 17’s synopsis reads:

“From the Academy Award-winning writer/director of “Parasite”, Bong Joon Ho, comes his next groundbreaking cinematic experience, “Mickey 17”. The unlikey hero, Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.”

In Mickey 17, Mickey’s team will be trying to colonize Niflheim, an ice world.

This is not Bong Joon Ho’s first go at science-fiction as he directed 2013’s Snowpiercer, a post-apocalyptic film that features survivors of a second Ice Age forced to live on a train that circles the globe. The rich inhabitants live in luxury while the poor residents live in the caboose who are looking to improve their lives.

The cast of Mickey 17 includes:

  • Robert Pattinson (The Batman, Tenet) as Mickey Barnes
  • Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, I Wanna Dance with Somebody) as Nasha Adjaya
  • Steven Yeun (Nope, The Walking Dead) as Berto
  • Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, Hereditary) as Gwen Johansen
  • Mark Ruffalo (Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spotlight) as Hieronymous Marshall
  • Steven Park (The French Dispatch, Asteroid City) as Agent Zeke

The film also features Holliday Grainger, Anamaria Vartolomei, Thomas Turgoose, Pasty Ferren, and Daniel Henshall.

Mickey 17 is set to hit theaters on January 31, 2025.
