HOLLYWOOD— The first trailer for the fourth installment in Marvel’s Captain America saga has dropped online.
After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Steven Rodgers, played by Chris Evans, took the Infinity Stones back to their respective timelines and decided to live out a life with Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter. Rodgers turned the shield over to Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie.
Since Endgame, Marvel has produced the Disney+ show “Captain American and the Winter Solider” in which Wilson accepted the Captain America mantle.
Now, Marvel has released the first trailer for Wilson’s first film as Captain America as he was dubbed “The Falcon” in Captain America: The Winter Solider.
The synopsis for Captain America: Brave New World reads:
"After meeting with newly-elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind the nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red."
In Captain America: Brave New World, President Thaddeus Ross wants to make “Captain America” an official military position. We also have an assassination attempt on Ross and we also see Giancarlo Esposito in a potentially villainous role but the character he is playing has been kept under wraps.
Other than Espostio’s character, we do get a glimpse at Red Hulk, who is Ross. Ford took over the role of Thaddeus Ross from William Hurt, who died back in 2022. Also returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Tim Blake Nelson, who played Samuel Sterns in “The Incredible Hulk” and Liv Tyler.
Captain America: Brave New World is directed by Julius Onah, who directed “The Girl Is in Trouble” and “The Cloverfield Paradox”.
The cast includes:
- Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker, Captain America Saga) as Sam Wilson/Captain America
- Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick, Orange is the New Black) as Joaquin Torres/Falcon
- Shira Haas (The Zookeeper’s Wife, Mary Magdalene) as Ruth Bat-Seraph
- Liv Tyler (Lord of the Rings, Armageddon) as Betty Ross
- Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Blade Runner) as Thaddeus Ross
- Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Holes) as Samuel Sterns
Esposito, Rosa Salazar, and Seth Rollins have been cast in undisclosed roles.
Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on February 14, 2025.
