MOS EISLEY, TATOOINE- In honor of Star Wars Day, May the 4th, Disney has released a brand-new Obi-Wan Kenobi video trailer.
The official synopsis reads:
Ewan McGregor returns in the iconic role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for a special event series on Disney+.
Officially titled “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, the series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where he faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
The series is directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed memorable episodes of “The Mandalorian” Season 1 and features the return of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.
In this new trailer, we see that the Inquisitors are hunting Obi-Wan and are using bounty hunters to find him. We see the Grand Inquisitor, played by Rupert Friend, the Fifth Brother, played by Sung Kang, and Moses Ingram’s Reva/ Third Sister.
The Inquisitors are force users who were trained by Darth Vader to hunt the remaining Jedi after Order 66 was enacted. They made their Star Wars debut in the animated show ‘Star Wars: Rebels”.
We also get to see some of the relationship between Kenobi and Uncle Owen, the man who Obi-Wan left Luke too at the end of Revenge of the Sith.
Through the last few moments of the trailer, we finally get just a glimpse Darth Vader seemingly preparing to face the titular hero.
Ewan McGregor returns as Obi-Wan Kenobi after 17 years away from the role as does Hayden Christensen who played Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Also coming back are Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse was Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru who played the same roles in the prequels.
Newcomers include Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor, Moses Ingram as Reva/Third Sister, Sung Kang as the Fith Brother and Kumail Nanjiani, Benny Safdie, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, and Maya Erskine.
Originally set to debut on Wednesday, May 25, Obi-Wan Kenobi was pushed until May 27th, 2022. Due to the delay, Disney will be dropping the first 2 episodes of the show. You do need a Disney+ subscription to watch the show.
