'Incredibles 2' Now Comes with a Seizure Warning

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The widely anticipated movie 'The Incredibles 2' was released on Friday. Not long after, moviegoers became worried about a scene that could cause seizures.

The movie, which is the sequel to the first movie that was released 14 years ago, features one scene where those with epilepsy could see their symptoms triggered. That scene with the villain Screenslaver features bright flashing lights.

After the film, the Epilepsy Foundation put out a statement addressing the concern from the movie. "(We) appreciate the efforts some theaters have already made to post warning signs for people waiting to see the movie," the statement said.

Walt Disney Pictures also issued a warning to theaters on Friday in an unprecedented move. It was meant for theaters to warn customers of the scene.

The warning, which has been shared on social media, says "'Incredibles 2' contains a sequence of flashing lights, which may affect customers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy or other photosensitivities."

The Epilepsy Foundation says, "for about 3 percent of people with epilepsy, exposure to flashing lights at certain intensities, or with certain visual patterns, can trigger seizures. This condition is known as photosensitive epilepsy and it's more common in children and adolescents, especially those with generalized epilepsy and a type known as juvenile myoclonic epilepsy."

There are no figures as to how many people had seizures triggered at the movie.

'Incredibles 2' is currently showing at both movie theaters in San Angelo.
