FORT DAVIS, TX — The principal at Fort Davis Elementary has had their employment terminated after allegedly failing to ensure the safety of the students when an intruder entered the school.
According to a release posted on Facebook, an individual entered the elementary campus without authorization, and the principal did not follow safety protocols during the incident.
The post reads:
"On May 13, 2026, an intruder entered the elementary school property without authorization through an open gate. Despite having received extensive training on the District’s Emergency Operations Plan, the campus principal failed to follow the mandated security protocols. The intruder ultimately left the property without harm to any student or staff.
"After swiftly investigation the incident, Superintendent Jason Crow determined that the campus principal should not continue in any capacity with the district. Consequently, the principal’s employment ended on May 14.
"Mr. Crow is undertaking a thorough review of all security training conducted prior to his becoming the superintendent. District administration intends to schedule additional training with all staff beyond that which state law requires. Fort Davis ISD regrets that the situation occurred, but assures the community that the Board of Trustees, the administration, and staff, as a whole, prioritize student safety.
"The district appreciates the community’s continued support in its pursuit of excellence for all students."
The district did not identify the principal that was terminated.
