CHRISTOVAL, TX — Christoval ISD announced Thursday that it will be transitioning to a four-day school week for the 2025-26 school year.
Christoval joins San Angelo TLCA, Eden, Winters and Olfen as Concho Valley schools that have adopted the four-day format in recent years.
Classes will now be held from Monday to Thursday as opposed to the traditional schedule from Monday to Friday.
A majority of Christoval’s ISD staff (86.4%) who responded to a survey said they would be in favor of a four-day week, according to a presentation given during Wednesday’s school board meeting.
Christoval ISD superintendent Clint Askins said the change is “designed to create a more efficient and balanced schedule for both students and staff, while also providing opportunities for focused professional development and student intervention.”
“We believe this shift will help enhance the overall educational experience and foster a positive, supportive environment for everyone,” Askins said in a statement.
Christoval ISD has already confirmed two programs that will be offered next school year, from YMCA of San Angelo and Christoval Baptist Church, to help support families who are in need of childcare options.
