SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo ISD recently posted the applications for free and assisted school lunches ahead of the 2024-25 school year.
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) offers federally assisted meals to over 3 million Texas children, including those in the San Angelo ISD. Eligible families can receive free or reduced-price lunches for their students during the 2024-2025 school year, with universal free breakfast still provided daily.
Families are urged to complete a brief online application to determine eligibility before the school year begins on August 15. A single application per household suffices. Qualifying for these meals can lead to additional federal and state funding for the child’s school and district. Paper applications are also available at the Child Nutrition Services Office at 305 Baker Street, San Angelo, TX 76903.
Eligibility for free or reduced-price meals is based on the following:
- Income: Household income at or below federal eligibility levels.
- Categorical Eligibility: Families receiving benefits from SNAP, TANF, or FDPIR.
- Program Participation: Children in foster care, homeless, runaway, migrant, displaced by disaster, or enrolled in Head Start/Even Start.
To apply based on income, families must submit information about all household members, income details, and the last four digits of the Social Security number of the signing adult or indicate no Social Security number.
SAISD collaborates with local agencies to identify children eligible through programs and will notify these households directly. Families not contacted but who believe they qualify should reach out to Kelly Graf, Free and Reduced Clerk, at the Child Nutrition Services Office.
Meal Prices for 2024-2025
- Elementary: Full Price - $3.00, Reduced Price - $0.40
- Secondary: Full Price - $3.25, Reduced Price - $0.40
Applications are accepted year-round, and household changes such as unemployment or increased household size can affect eligibility. Contact SAISD for more information and to access updates via the district's website, Facebook, and Twitter.
