SAN ANGELO, TX — The 41st annual San Angelo Pan-American Golf Association Scholarship Tournament was held on May 4, 2024. Many sponsors, players and volunteers gathered together on a very cloudy and at times rainy day to raise money for local graduating high school seniors.
For the 2024-2025 academic year the Association awarded $22,000 in scholarships from the single golf tournament fundraiser. Those scholarships were awarded yesterday, May 21, 2024.
The response from the community has grown over the years and without support from community leaders, the Association could not do this. Members of the association thanked all for helping them give some of the local students a stepping stone in the form of a scholarship to help further their education at a ceremony yesterday inside the Jim Bass Cars & Trucks dealership.
PAGA scholarships are awarded based on the applicants' academics, school participation, financial needs, community involvement, and employment. The fact that this scholarship is open to any high school graduating senior in this area is ideal, as you do not have to be a golfer to receive the $1,000 scholarship.
Since 2009, the San Angelo PAGA has distributed over $281,000 in scholarships. They are awarded to the student and the funds are sent to directly to educational institution of the student’s choice and have expanded to Include trade schools.
