SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University is inviting the community to the ASU campus to view the upcoming annular solar eclipse on Saturday, Oct. 14, in the parking lot next to the Vincent Building at 2333 Vanderventer St.
The eclipse is predicted to take place from 10:20 a.m. to 1:25 p.m., with the full annularity of the eclipse happening around 11:45 a.m. The viewing on the ASU campus is free and open to the public, and free eclipse glasses to safely view the eclipse will be available. There will also be opportunities for alternative viewing methods, including pinhole projection, telescopes and magnified images.
Additionally, the ASU Planetarium inside the Vincent Building will feature back-to-back free showings of the eclipse program "Totality Over Texas." Shows will start every 35 minutes, beginning at 10 a.m., with a brief intermission from 11:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to view the eclipse, and the final show starting at about 1:35 p.m.
Starting at 10:30 a.m., there will also be a College and Community Fair in the Vincent Building parking lot, where community members can grab a snack and play games while learning more about various ASU student groups and community organizations.
