SAN ANGELO – The annual National Night Out gathering at San Angelo Stadium Tuesday evening brought families and children together with police officers, firefighters, game wardens, sheriff's deputies and other members of law enforcement of an evening of fun and bonding.
According to natw.org, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office had a special response vehicle on display. The San Angelo Police Department had several specialized units including the drone unit and the lake patrol boat.
One of the more popular stops for the kids was the Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Warden's boat.
There were also fire trucks from the San Angelo Fire Department and the Dove Creek VFD along with a bounce house and free hot dogs and drinks. Angelo State University cheerleaders were also on hand at the stadium.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas and select areas celebrate on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.
