San Angelo ISD Schools Open Monday

SAN ANGELO, TX – Following a district-wide facility review and constant communication with the City of San Angelo Water Utilities Director and other local officials, San Angelo ISD campuses and offices will OPEN as regularly scheduled tomorrow, Monday, February 22, 2021. However, as the City of San Angelo remains under a boil water notice impacting all SAISD campuses, SAISD will also offer in-person students and families across the District the choice to have students attend virtually rather than in-person using the Schoology platform through Wednesday, February 24, 2021. Virtual Academy students will continue to participate in virtual learning using Edgenuity.

The District is committed to ensuring that our buildings are safe, sanitized, and functional for students and staff when they return to campus. For students attending in-person on campuses, families are asked to send students with water bottles for drinking water due to the boil water notice.

At this time, the majority of SAISD campuses are not experiencing water shortage issues with the exception of three elementary schools in the high plains area: Alta Loma Elementary, Bonham Elementary, and Lamar Elementary. To accommodate the situation for the three elementaries continuing to be impacted by the City water shortage, SAISD has secured restroom trailers with bathrooms and sinks for handwashing that will be on-site at each campus complete with sourced water from outside San Angelo brought in by the provider of the trailer. In-person students and families at Alta Loma, Bonham, and Lamar will also have the choice to have their student attend virtually through Wednesday, February 24, using Schoology.

Details for in-person students/families choosing to attend virtually during City boil notice:

Grab-and-Go Lunches:

SAISD understands that the last week has been a difficult one for many of our students, families, and staff due to historic weather conditions, power outages, and water issues, and that many are still dealing with water issues and other repercussions from the week. We also know that for our students, many of our families and community, is it important for our schools to be open so our team has been working hard to make that happen safely. SAISD is sensitive to your situations and concerns, and are working to be adaptive and supportive while moving forward to provide an engaging and inspiring education for our students.

We appreciate our students and families partnering with us to provide successful educational experiences as we work together to overcome the challenges of the past week. We continue to be thankful for the dedicated work of our SAISD Facilities and Maintenance team, City employees, linemen and other infrastructure workers who are working to help our city recover.  Continue to check our websiteFacebook, and Twitter, for further related updates.
