Keep Robert E. Lee Middle School Leader is Running for School Board

SAN ANGELO, TX — The voice for the fight to keep Robert E. Lee Middle School has decided to throw her hat in the ring for school board.

As previously reported, on Aug. 8, Debbie Cross and others joined together to try to get the San Angelo ISD school board to keep the name of the Robert E. Lee Middle school. See the video here: WATCH: Keep the Name.

After months of fighting, the battle was lost and Robert E. Lee Middle School name was changed to Lone Star Middle School. With the loss though came an idea for Cross and that was to run for school board.

“I have always been interested in being on the school board for a very long time,” said Cross. “and before you ask this is not about the Lee Jr. High name change ..I will not lie I was, am and will always  be very dissappointed in the school board's decision..but it's done and time to move on.”

Although Cross claims that LMS has nothing to do with her decision, she says she has learned valuable lessons during the ordeal.

“My priorities will be to listen to our parents and teachers more and learn what it is they see on a day to day basis regarding the education, discipline and health of our children,” said Cross.

Cross is betting that she will win the election due to her caring spirit, business ethics, and personable behavior.

“I feel like I am an every day person and can relate to everyday issues,” said Cross “I want everyday people know they have a voice in their kids education and I will listen and and answer them all.”

Cross is running for school board member in District 3 against incumbent trustee Dr. Taylor Kingman.
