The ten days do not need to be consecutive and can include assignments at different locations. Substitute teachers play an important role in the lives of the students we serve and the greater community.
Benefits of being a substitute teacher include flexible schedules with full or half-day assignments available and attractive pay incentives for working 10 or more days a month.
Interested applicants should complete an online substitute application and register for a substitute orientation session. Substitute orientations will be conducted virtually through Zoom. The next Substitute Orientation will be held Wednesday, November 18 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Superintendent Carl Dethloff said Friday that the district is experiencing minor disruptions in teacher continuity due to required quarantines and COVID-19. The district intends to stay in the classroom for the good of the community and its economy. Many younger students have working parents and depend on kids attending school to allow parents to work. Substituting is a way to help the community get through the latest spike in COVID-19 cases. Dethloff said the challenge is forward-looking and the current COVID-19 rate and required quarantining remains at less than 2 percent of the student/faculty population. Dethloff said the district will likely be needing more substitutes in the middle school and elementary school grade levels.
